About the event
This webinar intends to educate Ghanaians on how prevalent mental health is within the
culture and how the culture encourages poor wellbeing through social, economic, and religious
pressures. In this 60-minute webinar I will be discussing what mental health is and the
psychical/psychological symptoms of mental health. In Ghana mental health is seen as a taboo
or a curse from someone in the family doing wrong to another. Which then results to people
believing that mentally ill individuals are dangerous or demons. Because of this belief mentally
ill individuals are left abandoned by their family or community. Therefore, I want to use this
opportunity to education my fellow Ghanaians on mental health and how they can help their
loved ones during a time of need.
